Anambra Court Grants N50m Bail to Native Doctor Ezenagu

On March 12, an Anambra State High Court, presided over by Justice Jude Obiora, granted bail to Ikechukwu Johnpaul Ezenagu, a native doctor from Nnewi, in the sum of N50 million. Ezenagu, popularly known as Mmuo Mmili Afuluanya, faces charges related to the alleged violation of the Anambra Homeland Security Law, part of the state government's efforts to combat insecurity and criminal activities.

The court's ruling included conditions that Ezenagu must deposit title documents of residential property and that the property would be forfeited if he fails to appear for trial. Justice Obiora also directed Ezenagu to refrain from granting media interviews or making public comments regarding the case while legal proceedings are ongoing.

Barr. Kingslei Awuka, Ezenagu's defense counsel, expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, describing it as fair.

The court adjourned the matter until July 3 for further proceedings.
