First Lady Launches Food Bank and Digital Skills Centre

On her official visit to Anambra State, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu launched the South-East Community Food Bank at the Old Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). This food bank aims to assist vulnerable and food-insecure households, including widows, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, nursing and lactating mothers, and young children, by providing essential food supplies and nutrition support.

The initiative seeks to reduce hunger and improve human development outcomes through collaboration between the Nigerian Government and Anambra State Government. Additionally, at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Oluremi commissioned a Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-sponsored ICT Experience Centre, designed to equip students with modern digital resources and skills for the technology-driven economy.

The centre will support training in software development, data analysis, and remote work skills. The First Lady's visit also included the rollout of empowerment interventions across Anambra State’s 21 local government areas, providing grants, vocational equipment, and agricultural inputs to support vulnerable households and youth development.
