Anambra Police Warn Against Concealed Number Plates

The Anambra State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, has issued a warning to vehicle owners regarding the use of concealed number plates. This statement was made available to journalists on Tuesday and follows an earlier directive from Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.

The police highlighted a rise in cases involving unregistered vehicles and emphasized that concealed number plates obstruct identification, thereby weakening crime prevention efforts. Ikenga advised vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are duly registered and that number plates are displayed visibly at all times, as per the law.

He noted that using unauthorized plates or altering registration numbers constitutes a violation that attracts appropriate sanctions. The enforcement exercise aims to strengthen security and enhance intelligence gathering to facilitate the prompt identification of vehicles used in criminal activities.

The police urged motorists to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to comply with vehicle registration requirements.
