Anambra State Trains Health Officers for 2027 AOP

On a one-day capacity-building exercise organized by the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS) in Awka, Anambra State, health officers were trained to improve their strategic planning skills. The training aimed to prepare programme officers for implementing the Annual Operational Plan (AOP) in line with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare’s Health Sector Strategic Blueprint (HSSB).

Dr. John Paul Onyekineso, the Director of DPRS, emphasized the importance of a well-designed operational plan for strengthening healthcare delivery and enhancing Anambra’s health sector planning.

He explained that the training was focused on the 2027 AOP and that proposed interventions must align with the state’s budget framework to facilitate effective implementation and attract technical and financial support from development partners. Participants found the training timely and beneficial, expressing optimism that the skills acquired would enhance programme implementation and improve health outcomes in the state.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to align state health planning with national policies and support Nigeria's goals for Universal Health Coverage.
