Anambra State Boosts Basic Education with Free Records

The Anambra State Government has launched an initiative to strengthen basic education by distributing free administrative statutory records to all public primary and junior secondary schools. This effort, coordinated by the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) in Awka, aims to enhance school administration and support the state's free education policy.

Dr Justina Anyadiegwu, Chairman of ASUBEB, stated that the distribution of school registers, diaries, and official folders demonstrates the Soludo administration's commitment to improving basic education quality through effective administration and transparency. The program supports the free education policy, which abolished tuition and levies for pupils from nursery to Junior Secondary School (JSS3).

ASUBEB has completed training for head teachers on digital record-keeping, with a full transition expected in the next academic session. Anyadiegwu emphasized zero tolerance for corruption, warning against illegal charges.

The initiative also includes expanding digital learning facilities in selected schools. Dr Bernadine Anago urged effective utilization of the records, with periodic monitoring planned.
