Anammah Advocates Corporate Governance for Economic Growth

Juliet Anammah, the Board Chair of Nigerian Breweries Plc, delivered a keynote address at the 2026 National Corporate Governance Summit in Lagos, stressing the significance of robust corporate governance and stable industrial policies as essential for Nigeria's long-term economic growth. Anammah advocated for policies that would enable businesses to advance in the value chain and produce higher-value products.

She cited Nigerian Breweries as an example, suggesting that a supportive policy environment could facilitate the company's expansion into sectors like pharmaceuticals and aerospace. Anammah argued that industrial policies should transcend political administrations to foster globally competitive industries.

She stated that consistent long-term policies would attract private investment, enhance industrial capabilities, and assist Nigeria in achieving upper middle-income status. Other notable speakers included Senator Kashim Shettima, represented by Dr.

Tope Fasua, Urum Eke from the Institute of Directors, and Abba Kyari Bukar, who also underscored the importance of strong corporate governance in realizing Nigeria's goal of a resilient, competitive $1 trillion economy.
