ANEM Calls for Urgent Action on Insecurity and Living Costs

The Synod of the All Nations Evangelism Ministry (ANEM) convened its third-quarter meeting on Sunday at Faith Cathedral in Makurdi, where it issued a communiqué urging governments at all levels to enhance efforts in tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property across Nigeria. The communiqué, signed by President Archbishop Dr Yimam Orkwar, expressed deep concern over issues such as terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and mass abductions, referencing recent violent incidents in Ayilamo and Ugboju, Benue State, which resulted in the deaths of civilians and six policemen.

The Synod also extended condolences to the families of 37 miners who died in custody of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State, calling for a thorough investigation. Additionally, the Synod urged collaboration among governments, traditional institutions, community leaders, and church leaders to address insecurity and appealed for peaceful political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It also highlighted the rising petrol prices and their impact on living standards, calling on President Bola Tinubu’s economic team to take action.
