CAN Urges Government to Address Hardship and Insecurity

On Tuesday, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), under the leadership of Archbishop Daniel Okoh, called on the federal government and leaders at all levels to move beyond promises and take decisive actions to address the issues of insecurity and the rising cost of living in Nigeria. In his Eid-el-Maulud message to Muslims, Okoh expressed that Nigerians are weary of unfulfilled promises and desire visible improvements in their daily lives.

He congratulated Muslims on their celebration while urging them to reflect on values such as mercy, justice, and compassion, which are essential during these challenging times. Okoh emphasized that leadership should be evaluated based on its impact on citizens' lives, not merely on promises made.

With the 2027 elections approaching, he cautioned against the exploitation of religious and ethnic differences for political gain and called for unity among Christians and Muslims. He encouraged Nigerians to protect their communities and work towards peace, expressing optimism for the country's future contingent on responsible leadership and good citizenship.
