Nigerian billionaire Rabiu Abdulsamad has risen to become the 5th richest man in Africa, according to the latest Forbes billionaire index. His net worth of $5.5 billion surpasses that of Mike Adenuga, who has a net worth of $5.1 billion.

Abdulsamad, the founder of BUA Group, has seen his fortune grow significantly this year due to strong stock market performance and the rising valuation of his cement and food business. He has added $2 billion to his wealth since the beginning of the year.

Johann Rupert's family holds the second spot with a fortune of $7.2 billion, while Nicky Oppenheimer's family sits in third place with $7 billion. Abdulsamad's rise highlights Nigeria's strong presence among Africa's wealthiest, alongside South Africa and Egypt.
