Court to Rule on David Mark, Aregbesola Leadership Suit

A lawsuit has been filed by Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives, seeking to restrain David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from acting as leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Musa Suleiman Liman, has scheduled a judgment date for April 13.

The suit, filed on February 15, 2026, argues that Mark and Aregbesola's leadership is illegal and seeks to nullify the transfer of ADC leadership from Ralph Nwosu to Mark and Aregbesola. Abejide's counsel, Ibrahim Idri, presented arguments against the suit, while the defense, representing Mark and Aregbesola, contended that the suit lacks merit and that Abejide does not have the legal standing to file it.

The defense also argued that the matter pertains to the internal affairs of a political party, which is non-justiciable in court. The ADC's leadership transition is contested, with claims that it did not meet the requirements of the Electoral Act 2022.
