MACN Praises NIMASA for Enhancing Maritime Transparency

The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) praised the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for its ongoing reforms that have significantly increased transparency and improved the business environment in Nigeria's maritime sector. During a courtesy visit to NIMASA in Lagos, MACN's Chief Executive Officer, Cecelia Torbrand, led discussions on collaboration strategies to enhance integrity and accountability within the sector.

Torbrand stressed that addressing corruption requires collective action among government, industry stakeholders, and civil society. She outlined MACN's focus on Capability Building, Collective Action, and Collaboration/Culture of Integrity.

Olusoji Apampa, CEO of the Convention on Business Integrity and MACN member, noted that Nigeria's reforms are gaining regional attention, inspiring similar initiatives in Ghana and Senegal. NIMASA's Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, represented by Executive Director, Operations, Engr. Fatai Taiye Adeyemi, expressed commitment to further collaboration with MACN and emphasized the critical role of data in demonstrating the impact of these reforms.
