APC Lifts Ultimatum on Kalu and Nkwonta in Abia State

On Sunday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State lifted an ultimatum issued to Senator Orji Kalu and Chris Nkwonta over alleged anti-party remarks concerning Governor Alex Otti. The ultimatum had required both leaders to apologize for statements perceived as supportive of Otti ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The State Working Committee (SWC) had previously condemned Kalu's declaration on national television that Otti would win the election and expressed disappointment over Nkwonta's statement made in the presence of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, where he indicated he would vote for Otti. During the stakeholders' meeting in Umuahia, APC State Chairman Chijioke Chukwu stated that the party had listened to Kalu and Nkwonta's reasons for their remarks and decided to move forward, emphasizing the need to maintain party unity and authority as they prepare for the upcoming elections.
