APC Withdraws Sanction Threat Against Kalu and Nkwonta

The Abia state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, has retracted its earlier threat to sanction Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia North) and Hon. Chris Nkwonta for alleged anti-party comments. This decision was made during a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday at the party's new secretariat in Umuahia.

The State Working Committee (SWC) had previously issued a 14-day ultimatum for the lawmakers to publicly apologize for remarks interpreted as support for Labour Party Governor Alex Otti's re-election in 2027. Despite not complying, the party chose reconciliation over disciplinary action.

Chukwu acknowledged the need for unity and accepted responsibility for past shortcomings, urging members to resolve grievances through proper channels. The SWC had warned of potential disciplinary measures if the lawmakers failed to apologize, but the stakeholders ultimately adopted a motion to conclude the matter amicably, indicating that Kalu and Nkwonta had engaged with the party leadership to clarify their intentions.
