APC Appoints Edu and Olejeme Amid Corruption Allegations

Betta Edu, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, and Ngozi Olejeme, ex-chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, have been appointed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign council. The council was unveiled on Saturday, with Abdulaziz Yari appointed as Director-General and Hope Uzodimma as Secretary.

Edu, listed as number 97, will serve as Director of Women’s Mobilisation, despite being suspended by President Bola Tinubu in January 2024 over a ₦585 million financial transaction. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigated her ministry, leading to the suspension of programs under the National Social Investment Programme Authority.

Olejeme, number 37 on the list, was appointed South-South Zonal Director for Election Planning, Coordination, and Mobilisation, while facing a pending money laundering case involving ₦1 billion, with eight counts of alleged unlawful activities filed against her by the EFCC in October 2025.
