APC Chairman Meets Emir Sanusi Amid Kano Tensions

On August 22, 2026, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held a private meeting with Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II at the Rumfa Palace in Kano. The meeting occurred shortly after the Emir returned from Abuja.

Muhammad Dallatu, a close associate of the Emir, confirmed the meeting to The Punch, stating that it was a courtesy visit. The discussions were held behind closed doors, and no details regarding the topics discussed were disclosed.

Dallatu mentioned that the private nature of the meeting prevented him from commenting on the issues considered. This meeting takes place against the backdrop of ongoing disputes over the Kano emirship, which have been a source of political and traditional tensions in the state as the 2027 general elections approach.
