APC Chieftain Calls for Urgent Security Measures in Schools

Tolu Bankol, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), condemned the recent abductions of students and teachers in Nigeria, particularly highlighting incidents in Oyo and Borno States. In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Bankol described these kidnappings as barbaric and unacceptable, asserting that schools should remain safe environments for learning.

He noted a disturbing pattern of attacks on educational institutions during election periods, referencing previous abductions such as those in Chibok, Dapchi, and Kankara. Bankol urged security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted individuals and improve protection for vulnerable communities.

He called for a coordinated rescue operation with clear timelines and emphasized the importance of modern counter-terrorism strategies, including the use of surveillance technology like drones and security cameras. Bankol also advocated for stronger security presence in rural areas and the establishment of additional police posts, urging community involvement in tackling insecurity.
