APC Chieftain Calls for New Strategy After Officer Killings

An APC chieftain has urged the Nigerian military to adopt a new counter-insurgency strategy after the killing of senior officers, including Brig Gen Braimoh, who commanded the 29 Task Force Brigade during an attack by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State. This incident is viewed as a major setback in the counter-terrorism campaign, highlighting the need for a change in military tactics to address evolving threats.

The chieftain, Yerima, emphasized the importance of strengthening intelligence gathering and deploying modern technology to improve human intelligence capabilities. He noted that while the military has recorded significant successes in recent years, the recent ambushes and attacks on forward operating bases have widened the violence and undermined previous gains.

Additionally, he warned of coordinated attacks by non-state actors across Nigeria, which pose serious threats to national sovereignty.
