Tinubu's Football Support Revealed by APC's Basiru
On August 27, 2023, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru disclosed that President Bola Tinubu is a Manchester United fan during a visit to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. Basiru made this remark while addressing Adeleke at the government house, where he sought greater support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He humorously noted that while he identifies as an Arsenal supporter, he aligns with Manchester United when in the presidential villa due to Tinubu's allegiance. Basiru emphasized the need for unity among stakeholders to secure a significant victory for President Tinubu in Osun State during the upcoming elections on January 16, 2027.
He pointed out that the APC had garnered 46% of the votes in the state, equating to approximately 444,000 votes, which he argued demonstrated the party's strong presence in Osun. The visit aimed to reinforce the APC's position in a state currently governed by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
