APC Group Demands Inquiry into Peter Obi's Election Plan

The Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), a pro-All Progressives Congress (APC) group, has called for the questioning of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), over his proposal for a parallel election result transmission system. This call was made by Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, the Deputy National Leader, Southeast of RHGN, during a news briefing in Umuahia following Obi's interview on Arise News on September 10, 2026.

Ngoforo expressed concerns that Obi's plan for "dual transmission" of election results could lead to a crisis in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He urged security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, to investigate whether any parallel electoral infrastructure was being developed.

Ngoforo cited various sections of the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act 2026, asserting that the proposal conflicts with the exclusive powers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize and supervise elections.
