Obidient Connect Critiques APC's Stance on Election Monitoring

Charles Odibo, Coordinator of Obidient Connect and Director of Media and Communications at The Big Tent Coalition, expressed deep concern over a warning issued by the pro-APC group, Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria, against independent result monitoring for the 2027 elections. In a statement, Odibo questioned why the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) fears transparency and technology-driven vote protection.

He emphasized that Obidient Connect is not an alternative to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) but a civic platform aimed at empowering citizens to monitor and transmit polling unit results in real time. Odibo referenced alarming findings from Mundx.com, which revealed that 48% of the 2023 presidential election result sheets uploaded to the INEC Results Viewing (IReV) portal were not from BVAS machines but from over 800 different devices, violating electoral laws.

He noted that in Oru-East Local Government Area, over 100 polling units lacked party agents, with results uploaded from only two locations, raising serious questions about electoral integrity.
