APC Demands Arrest of Ogun Guber Aspirant Abayomi Hunye

The All Progressives Congress (APC) submitted a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Rilwan Disu, on August 24, 2026, demanding the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of Abayomi Hunye. The APC accused Hunye of unlawfully presenting himself as the party's governorship candidate for the January 2027 election, despite the party's official recognition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as its candidate.

The petition, signed by Ayoola Peter Olajolo, the APC's Director of Administration, stated that Hunye's actions could mislead voters and disrupt electoral integrity. The APC emphasized that Hunye was suspended from the party on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his ward, Tube Ward, in Ipokia Local Government Area, and that this suspension was ratified by the local chapter and approved by the Ogun State Working Committee.

The party also noted that during the governorship primary, Adeola received 304,055 votes, while Hunye received zero votes, reinforcing that Hunye lacks the authority to act as the party's candidate.
