APC Disowns Hunye, Confirms Yayi as Ogun Candidate for 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disowned Mr. Abayomi Hunye, who declared himself a candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. The party's National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, stated that Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi is the legitimate candidate for the election.

Basiru characterized Hunye's self-declaration as false, unauthorized, and mischievous, emphasizing that Hunye is currently suspended from the APC. His suspension occurred on April 7, 2026, following a petition from Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area.

The suspension was ratified by the Ogun State Working Committee and was based on allegations of actions detrimental to the party's image and efforts to create division among members. Basiru reiterated that Hunye lacks the legal and moral standing to represent the APC in any capacity.
