APC Members Urge Tinubu to Protect Party Democracy

A coalition of concerned members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) has written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to safeguard the party's internal democracy following the primary elections for the Plateau State House of Assembly. The letter, signed by Usman Danasab and Josiah Mark, emphasizes the need for the party to recognize the legitimate outcomes of the primaries and to ensure that appeals are not influenced by personal interests.

The group highlighted that Dr. Adamu Aliyu won the primary with 13,066 votes, defeating Harri Ishaya, who received 1,904 votes, and Shehu Bala and Hassan Abdulkadir, who received 239 and 182 votes, respectively. The letter raised concerns about reports suggesting that the APC National Working Committee was involved in issuing independent nomination forms, which they viewed as undermining democratic principles.

They called for the relevant institutions to ensure a lawful resolution of these matters.
