APC Reviews 2026 Osun Election Loss, Considers Legal Action

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently reviewing the outcome of the 2026 governorship election, in which its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was defeated. The party announced it is analyzing results from all 332 wards in the state to determine its next steps.

A statement from the APC, signed by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, indicated that the announcement of election results does not conclude the electoral process, especially if there are grounds for contesting the outcome. The APC plans to consult its legal team regarding potential court actions, referencing the election petition tribunal, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court as available legal avenues.

The party had previously expressed confidence in Oyebamiji's chances, with National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda asserting that the APC had the necessary political structure to win. The APC has urged its supporters to remain calm and avoid confrontations, while also appealing to the Nigeria Police Force for protection against alleged harassment from opposition supporters.
