APC Wins Gombe Local Government Elections with 240 Seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a significant victory in the local government elections held in Gombe State, winning 24 chairmanship positions and 240 councillorship seats. Abdullahi Garba, the chairman of the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission, declared APC the winner across the local government council wards.

This election is seen as a major milestone following the expansion of the electoral process, which now includes 11 local government areas and 24 administrative councils. The expansion was made possible by the approval of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who facilitated the creation of 13 local council development areas to bring governance closer to the people.

The elections saw participation from several political parties, with APC contesting all positions in the newly created councils. Other parties included the African Action Congress (AAC), Democratic Leadership Alliance, and Zenith Labour Party, among others.

Garba expressed gratitude to the political parties, civil society organizations, security agencies, and media stakeholders for contributing to a peaceful electoral process.
