APM Challenges APC on Subsidy Savings Claims

The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has rejected the report from the Tinubu-led APC administration regarding the savings from the removal of petroleum subsidy, asserting that the actual amount is N27 trillion, contrary to the reported N15.8 trillion. APM's National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, highlighted inconsistencies in the figures provided by the current Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, and his predecessor, Wale Edun, who previously claimed savings of approximately N26.9 trillion.

The APM demands a comprehensive account of how the funds have been allocated, including specific amounts distributed to states and local governments, and the purposes of these expenditures. They criticized the APC for vague claims about fund usage, particularly regarding payments to civil servants and students, which they believe unfairly shifts the blame for corruption onto innocent parties.

The APM insists that the APC administration must clarify the actual savings and provide detailed financial disclosures to the public.
