Appeal Court Overturns Araraume’s Reinstatement As NNPC Board Chairman

The appellate court overturned the reinstatement of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as the Chairman of the NNPC Board on August 8, 2025. The court upheld NNPC Ltd's appeal, citing an error in the previous decision that ordered his reinstatement.

The initial ruling, which had been in dispute for two years, was nullified in April 2023 by the Federal High Court, leading to concerns about the validity of board resolutions taken since Araraume's removal. The court agreed with NNPC Ltd's argument that the claim filed by Araraume was outside the statutory time limit, rendering it incompetent.

The company expressed its satisfaction with the decision in a statement issued by its management on Wednesday. This ruling concludes a governance dispute that had been ongoing since 2023.
