Nigerian Army Arrests Gun Runners, Rescues Six in Zamfara

On Sunday, troops from 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army arrested three suspected gun runners in Zamfara State during a stop-and-search operation along the Kauran Namoda–Shinkafi Road. The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Lukman Sulaiman, 18-year-old Nafiu Isa, and 60-year-old Adamu Lawali, were found with an AK-103-2 rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag of millet within a Golf Wagon.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly transporting the weapon to Yar-Galadima, and they claimed that an Alhaji from Gusau provided funds for the millet. The suspects, weapon, and vehicle were taken into custody for further investigation.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops at Forward Operating Base Anka rescued six individuals after a terrorist attack on a vehicle. The swift intervention of the troops disrupted the attackers, leading to the rescue of the victims, three of whom sustained minor injuries.

The operations are part of the Nigerian Army's efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and protect civilians.
