Army Chief Waidi Shaibu Reviews Operational Readiness

On Thursday, during a visit to the Nkwagu Military Cantonment in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, reviewed the operational readiness of the Nigerian Army in the South-East region. He reaffirmed the importance of troop welfare and combat preparedness, emphasizing the need for inter-agency cooperation to enhance security across the region.

The assessment was disclosed in a statement issued by Colonel Appolonia Anel, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations. Lieutenant General Shaibu described the troops as professionally prepared and essential in building resilient forces capable of responding to evolving security threats within a joint multi-agency operational environment.

He commended the discipline and dedication of the officers and soldiers and urged them to remain vigilant and uphold constitutional responsibilities while maintaining the highest professional standards and respect for human rights during operations. The Army Chief also inspected operational welfare facilities, including military hospitals and troop accommodations, reaffirming the commitment to invest in personnel welfare and military infrastructure.
