Nigerian Army Dismantles IPOB/ESN Camps in Anambra

On August 15, 2026, troops from the newly established 15 Brigade of the Nigerian Army conducted an operation in Anambra State, dismantling three suspected camps of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The operation took place in the early hours following intelligence reports regarding the activities of suspected IPOB/ESN members in Osuakwa, located along the boundary between Ihiala and Ogbaru Local Government Areas.

The troops, part of the Joint Task Force South East under Operation UDO KA, collaborated with personnel from the Department of State Services and the Agunechemba Vigilante Group. During the operation, the joint force faced hostile fire but managed to overpower the suspects after a fierce firefight, resulting in the deaths of three suspected IPOB/ESN members.

The troops recovered various weapons, including an FN rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and explosives, as well as logistical items such as motorcycles and batteries. Additionally, a suspected IPOB/ESN member named Chijioke was arrested, along with two accomplices found with six children.

The Commander of the 15 Brigade praised the efforts of all involved and reaffirmed the brigade's commitment to maintaining security in the region.
