Six Armed Group Members Neutralized in Anambra Operation

On Saturday, the Anambra State Police Command led a Joint Security Team in an operation aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the state, resulting in the neutralization of six members of an armed group. The operation involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force's Rapid Response Squad, the Department of State Services, the 302 Artillery Regiment, the Nigerian Navy, and Agunachamba operatives.

Acting on credible intelligence, the team trekked for about four hours through challenging terrain to reach a suspected camp of the armed group in Amiyi, Ogbaru LGA. Upon arrival, the suspects opened fire, leading to a prolonged exchange of gunfire.

The operatives recovered two pump-action guns and charms from the camp, which was subsequently dismantled. The operation resulted in the death of one security operative and injuries to another due to an explosive device that detonated in the area.

The injured operative is currently receiving medical attention.
