Nigerian Army Recovers Weapons in Plateau Operation

Troops of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 8 of Operation ENDURING PEACE as part of Operation HARD KNOCK, conducted an operation in Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, on August 19, 2026. This operation was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding a planned attack on Mwar Community in Chakfem Kingdom by suspected bandit militias.

Preliminary findings suggested the attack was linked to cattle rustling by some youths from the community. The operation involved a fighting patrol and a raid on suspected locations, aiming to recover missing cattle and apprehend those responsible.

Despite deploying drones and conducting systematic searches, no traces of the cattle were found. The troops identified Pantong Stanley and other youths as suspected perpetrators and conducted a snap raid on Stanley's residence, where he was not present.

The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated revolver rifle, two Dane guns, and 15 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. The Nigerian Army continues to work with police and other security agencies to maintain peace and security in Plateau State.
