Nigerian Army Disrupts Arms Trafficking in Kaduna State

Troops from the Nigerian Army conducted an operation in Kaduna State, intercepting illegal firearms and disrupting a suspected arms trafficking network. This operation followed credible intelligence indicating the transport of illicit weapons from Plateau State to Niger State.

The troops mounted a stop-and-search operation at the Samaru checkpoint in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, where they intercepted a suspicious ash-colored Mercedes Benz. A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and four submachine guns concealed inside.

During the operation, a suspect reportedly attempted to evade arrest and was shot. He was subsequently evacuated to the sector 7 medical center in Kafanchan for treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the recovered firearms were allegedly supplied by two suspected arms dealers based in Jos, indicating the existence of an organized arms trafficking route spanning multiple states. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to work with local security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and combat the illegal movement of arms.
