Nigerian Army Celebrates NADCEL 2026 with Patriotism Focus

During the NADCEL 2026 celebration, Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shaibu stated that the Nigerian Army, which has existed for 163 years, remains a symbol of patriotism and resilience. Speaking at an interdenominational church service at the Military Church in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, he noted the Army's adaptability to emerging security challenges while steadfastly defending Nigeria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The theme of the celebration, "Protecting the Nation, Serving the People," was chosen to remind personnel of their primary constitutional mandate. Lt.

Gen. Shaibu acknowledged the sacrifices made by gallant officers and soldiers, including those who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

He commended the Army's achievements in combating terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities. Brig.
