Quadri Aruna Aims for Comeback with Amiens Table Tennis

Quadri Aruna, a 38-year-old table tennis player, is determined to reclaim his status in the sport after facing challenges over the past two years. Since September 2024, he has participated in 46 competitive matches, winning only 15.

Aruna has signed with Amiens Sport Tennis de Table in the French second division, viewing this move as a pivotal step in his career. He stated, “The last two years have been challenging both on and off the table,” expressing his commitment to overcoming these obstacles.

Aruna is the only African to have been ranked in the world’s top 10 and is expected to significantly contribute to Amiens' promotion efforts. He will compete alongside notable players like Robert Gardos and João Monteiro.

Currently ranked No. 81 globally, he has faced a tough year, briefly dropping to fourth in Africa. Aruna continues to lead the Nigerian men’s national team, preparing for a competition in Morocco next month.

His recent performance includes a victory over Saudi Arabia at the Centenary ITTF World Team Championships in London.
