ASCE Nigeria Champions Sustainable Infrastructure Initiatives

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Nigeria Section, announced its ongoing commitment to promoting resilient and sustainable infrastructure during the ASCE 2026 Conference. President of ASCE Nigeria, Austin Odibi, stated that the organization will focus on initiatives such as engineering standards, research, professional education, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships.

The conference, themed ‘Climate Adaptive Cities: Engineering Solutions for Resilient Urban Futures’, specifically addressed issues related to resilient infrastructure, sustainable cities, and climate action. Odibi emphasized the importance of equipping engineers with the necessary knowledge and tools to tackle climate change and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

He reiterated that the ASCE Nigeria Section is dedicated to translating global priorities into actionable professional engagement within Nigeria, highlighting the responsibility of engineers to design infrastructure that meets current needs while anticipating future challenges.
