ASUU Commends Kaduna Government for KASU Support

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter, commended the Kaduna state government for addressing longstanding challenges faced by the institution. At a press briefing in Kaduna, ASUU-KASU chairman Dr Abubakar Abdullahi stated that the union's aim was to highlight areas needing further government intervention rather than criticize.

He acknowledged that the government had resolved some issues from previous agreements, specifically mentioning that out of ten issues raised, three had been addressed, while seven remained unresolved. Abdullahi praised the government's review of a school fee increase, which ASUU opposed due to its potential impact on students.

He emphasized that ASUU's focus extends beyond member welfare to include the overall health of the university system. Abdullahi called for continued government support, improved staff welfare, and proper funding to maintain KASU's standards.

He expressed optimism about KASU's future, asserting it could serve the state for generations if adequately supported.
