KASU VC Refutes ASUU Claims of Lecturer Resignations

Prof Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), issued a statement on Tuesday refuting claims by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that 200 lecturers had resigned due to poor working conditions. He described these claims as misleading and unsupported by university records, urging ASUU to provide verifiable evidence of the alleged resignations.

Prof Musa noted that staff movements, including resignations, are normal in the academic environment and should not be misrepresented. He highlighted that Governor Uba Sani has addressed salary arrears and improved staff welfare, with over ₦800 million allocated for staff welfare and ₦146 million for clearing withheld salaries.

Additionally, the Kaduna state government and KASU have established a ₦50 million monthly intervention fund. In 2026, over ₦200 million was disbursed for operational support, and the government invested over ₦300 million in accreditation processes.

KASU has also expanded its academic capacity with new research centers and accredited programs.
