ATBUTH Launches Digital Healthcare Services in Bauchi

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi launched a digital healthcare service that includes a mobile application and a SmartQueue system designed to improve patient flow and reduce waiting times. This initiative was formally demonstrated in the Family Medicine Department and the General Outpatient Unit (GOPU).

During the launch event, Chief Medical Director Professor Yusuf Bara Jibrin described the initiative as a major milestone in the hospital's digital transformation journey, reflecting its commitment to providing efficient, patient-centered healthcare services. The SmartQueue system introduces a structured and transparent patient queue process, allowing patients to obtain electronic queue tickets and receive services in an orderly manner.

The system is expected to reduce congestion in waiting areas and improve clinic operations. The mobile app, available on Google Play Store, will soon be accessible on the Apple App Store, enabling patients to book appointments, access services, and make payments remotely.

The pilot phase of the initiative will evaluate its effectiveness before gradual deployment across service points within the hospital.
