INEC Accused of Aiding Nafiu Bala's Candidate Uploads

Atiku Abubakar's media office issued a statement accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of enabling Nafiu Bala's faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to upload candidates for the 2027 general elections. The statement, released on Monday in Abuja, claimed that INEC granted Bala access to its candidate upload portal, despite the fact that the legitimate leadership of the ADC is recognized as being led by Senator David Mark.

The media office asserted that Bala's faction successfully uploaded names for presidential, vice-presidential, and National Assembly candidates, which they argue is a violation of electoral guidelines. They further alleged that Bala's claim to chairmanship is invalid and that INEC's actions are creating unnecessary disputes within the opposition party.

The statement called for INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan to cease interference in ADC affairs, suggesting that such actions serve to weaken the opposition and support President Bola Tinubu's alleged agenda.
