Atiku Abubakar Demands Release of Nigerians Arrested for T-Shirts

Atiku Abubakar, the ADC presidential candidate, has called for the immediate release of five individuals arrested in Borno State for wearing T-shirts that read "Tinubu Must Go." He questioned how expressing a political sentiment through clothing could be deemed an offense in a democratic society. Atiku highlighted a contradiction, noting that President Bola Tinubu had previously protested against fuel prices during Goodluck Jonathan's administration, yet citizens are now detained for similar expressions of discontent.

Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, issued a statement on Atiku's behalf, asserting that the slogan represents a demand for political change rather than a criminal act. Atiku outlined three specific demands: the disclosure of the detainees' location, access to their families and legal counsel, and their release if their detention is solely based on the slogan.
