Atiku Abubakar Demands Release of #TinubuMustGo Protesters

Atiku Abubakar, a prominent political figure, has called for the immediate release of protesters arrested for wearing shirts emblazoned with the slogan #TinubuMustGo. In a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, the Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku questioned how wearing a political slogan could be deemed an offense in a democratic society.

He referenced President Bola Tinubu's past protests against fuel prices during Goodluck Jonathan's administration, contrasting it with the current cost-of-living crisis under Tinubu's leadership. Atiku highlighted the struggles faced by Nigerians, including rising costs of fuel, food, transport, and electricity, which have led to severe financial strain on families.

He asserted that the slogan represents a demand for political change and should not lead to arrests. Atiku urged authorities to disclose the detainees' locations, ensure they have access to their families and lawyers, and release them if their only crime is wearing the slogan.
