Atiku Abubakar Denies Plot to Replace ADC Candidate

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has refuted claims linking him to an alleged scheme to replace the party's governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Engr. Suleiman Umar, prior to the 2027 general elections.

This denial follows speculation regarding the ADC's governorship ticket, which suggested that Umar could be replaced by Alhaji Tukur Modibbo with Atiku's support. The Atiku Campaign Council labeled these claims as false and malicious, asserting that Atiku had neither initiated nor approved any such move.

A statement from Atiku's spokesman, Phrank Shaibu, emphasized the former Vice President's commitment to the party's internal democratic processes. The campaign urged party members and the public to disregard the rumors, which they described as attempts to create division within the ADC.

Supporters of Suleiman Umar had previously protested against the alleged plans to replace him. The Director General of the Omarana Campaign Organisation, Elder Mark Wosi, also supported Atiku's position, affirming that there was no crisis within the campaign.
