Atiku Abubakar Seeks Tinubu's Disqualification for 2027

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have approached the Federal High Court in Abuja with a request to amend their legal challenge against President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. They seek to strengthen their claim that Tinubu should be disqualified due to an alleged forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, lists Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and INEC as defendants. The application was presented before Justice Inyang Ekwo, who has adjourned the matter to September 28 for further proceedings.

The plaintiffs aim to correct errors in the description of INEC documents and provide more details regarding the alleged fraud. Atiku claims the NYSC certificate bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which differs from the President’s name, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and argues that this discrepancy raises questions about the certificate's authenticity.
