Atiku Abubakar Seeks Court Amendment Against Tinubu

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has filed an application in the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking permission to amend his suit against President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, challenges the alleged submission of a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku and the ADC are requesting Justice Inyang Ekwo to allow them to amend their originating summons, which they initially filed on August 14. They identified errors in the documents, including the incorrect nomenclature of INEC forms and the need for clearer details regarding the alleged fraud.

The defendants, Tinubu and the APC, have countered the suit, claiming it is incompetent and asserting that they did not submit any forged certificate. They also argue that the allegations of forgery must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
