Atiku Abubakar Promises to End Insecurity in One Year

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has vowed to eliminate insecurity in Nigeria within one year of his potential presidency in the 2027 elections. In an interview with BBC Hausa, he outlined his strategy, which includes recruiting additional security personnel, equipping them adequately, and providing funding to support youth entrepreneurship to combat unemployment-related crime.

Atiku also emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, stating he would engage with leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to revive the Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) for enhanced military collaboration among member countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. He expressed that Nigeria should maintain its bilateral relations with Niger Republic despite the military junta's takeover and work towards reintegrating Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali into ECOWAS.

Additionally, Atiku expressed skepticism about the Independent National Electoral Commission's ability to conduct free and fair elections but urged Nigerians to vote and protect their votes.
