Atiku Abubakar to Sign Fuel Price Contract if Elected

Ralph Nwosu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former national chairman, stated that Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election, will sign a formal agreement with Nigerians regarding petrol prices if he wins. Nwosu made this announcement during an appearance on Arise Television’s Daybreak programme.

He emphasized that Atiku's campaign would focus on clear commitments, including restoring fuel subsidies, which he argues are necessary due to the burdens placed on Nigerians by the removal of the subsidy under President Bola Tinubu. Nwosu indicated that specific details of the proposed policy would be shared before Atiku takes office, including a contract that outlines the cost of fuel by May 29th.

He also mentioned that the ADC is preparing a first 100 days program to detail the actions Atiku's administration would take. Atiku has expressed concerns over the impact of subsidy removal and has committed to a targeted approach to support domestic refining and reduce petroleum production costs.
