Northern Governors Launch Security Trust Fund for Peace

The Arewa Think Tank, represented by Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, praised the 19 northern state governors for their courageous and visionary leadership in inaugurating the Northern Nigeria Security Trust Fund. This initiative, described as a bold response to worsening security challenges, aims to rekindle hope among millions suffering from the effects of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

Yakubu emphasized that the establishment of the fund reflects a genuine commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region, which has faced critical security situations. The governors, led by Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, chairman of the Northern State Governors Forum, are encouraged to ensure that the trust fund does not become bureaucratic but serves as a practical platform for mobilizing resources and enhancing intelligence sharing.

The board of trustees includes notable figures such as former Minister of Defence Alhaji Mahmud Yayal and retired General Martin Luther Agwai. Yakubu also supported the advocacy for state police as a sustainable solution to Nigeria's growing security challenges.
