Northern Governors Launch N1bn Security Fund for Farmers

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), led by President Muhammad Gettado, has commended the Northern Governor Forum for its establishment of the Northern Security Trust Fund. The fund, which will receive a monthly contribution of N1 billion, is aimed at addressing the persistent insecurity that has adversely affected farming activities and livelihoods across Northern Nigeria.

Gettado described the inauguration of the fund's management board, composed of individuals with proven integrity and capacity for transparent resource management, as a visionary step. He expressed optimism that this initiative would restore confidence among farmers, reduce attacks on agricultural communities, and ultimately enhance food production.

The fund is expected to create a safer environment for farming activities, stabilize food prices, and guarantee national food security. AFAN has urged farmers' cooperative societies across the North to support this initiative and collaborate with security agencies to curb criminal activities.
