Northern Governors Launch N1bn Monthly Security Fund

The Northern Governors Forum has inaugurated a security trust fund, pledging N1 billion monthly to address the persistent insecurity affecting farmers across Northern Nigeria. The Agricultural Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), led by President Muhammad Gettado, commended this initiative as a visionary step to improve security in farming communities.

The fund will be managed by a board comprising individuals with proven integrity and capacity to manage resources transparently. Gettado expressed optimism that this initiative would restore confidence among farmers, reduce attacks on agricultural communities, and ultimately boost food production.

The fund aims to create a safer environment for farming activities, stabilize food prices, and guarantee national food security. AFAN has urged its chapters across the North to support this initiative and collaborate with security agencies to curb criminal activities, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and cooperation in implementing the security master plan.
